The Reindeer Project

The Reindeer Project is an over 20-year strong nonprofit ministry supported by countless community organizations, churches, businesses, and individuals helping our LOCAL children have a very happy Christmas. The Reindeer Project is operated SOLELY off donations of generous contributors and one fundraiser each fall.

Despite things looking a bit different in 2020 due to COVID-19, we topped over 1,500 children (that’s 500+ families) within
Garland ISD alone. The need is so very great and we look forward to another year working with GISD, families, and volunteers.

  • Each October, letters are sent from The Reindeer Project to GISD school letters.
  • We must receive a referral from a school counselor and are unable to accept walk-ins at this time.
  • The school counselor makes the referral to The Reindeer Project by sending the signed form from the family back to us.
  • Once received, a volunteer will contact the guardian to conduct a needs/wants interview for each child regarding their Christmas wishes!
  • An angel tag is created, placed on a tree, and shopped for by people just like you! Items are returned to location, then transferred for distribution week.
  • During distribution, families are given a pickup time and location and are greeted with smiling faces, a yummy meal, activities for the littles, and help wrapping items for their children.
  • Volunteers assist the family to their vehicle and pick up the fixings for a holiday meal to take home.
  • We’re all about fellowship, love, and grace… and our volunteers are so blessed by each family we meet. It’s an incredible process from start to finish!

Donate Funds

  • We are a donation based ministry and do not maintain a budget to complete this project. It is only through the immense generosity of community members, area churches, businesses, and individuals as well as a host of volunteers to make this a wonderful success each year.

Donate Items

  • We accept NEW toy and clothing donations throughout the year for ages 0-18. Teen items are most often our greatest need.

  • Individuals are needed to interview families during our intake process. Spanish speaking helpers are always greatly needed. No experience required, training provided. Daytime, nighttime, and weekend opportunities available.
  • Want to volunteer during distribution? Watch for dates and details this fall! One of the most rewarding parts of Reindeer, we would love to have you join us as the culmination of The Reindeer Project comes to a close and items are given to families.

Take an Angel

  • In November, Angels are placed on trees on churches and businesses around the community. Look for a tree supporting The Reindeer Project and take one or more to be fulfilled. Instructions and due back dates are provided at that time.

Host A Tree

  • Do you have a business? Place an angel tree at your location for patrons to take tags for local children to shop for! Contact us for details today!
